Tips for Writing Better Notes
Be specific. "My morning coffee" becomes "the fifteen minutes of silence before anyone else woke up, with the coffee that was slightly too hot." The second version puts you back in the moment. The first doesn't.
Write in the past tense. This signals to your brain that you're preserving something real, not writing a wish or an intention. "I loved the way the light came through the window" has more weight than "I love good light."
Don't filter for big things. The notes people treasure most when they open a full jar are almost always small. A small thing noticed and written down is worth more than a big thing that felt obligatory to record.
Short is fine. A single sentence is enough. The goal is a note that will make sense six months from now — not an essay.

A gratitude jar is more spontaneous — you drop in a note when something specific happens or you want to capture a moment. Jars are also easier to share, and more satisfying to open.
